What I Do and Why I Do It

I founded The AI Handyman LLC in May of 2025. I did this to organize my work and make sure I could pay taxes correctly, as my income comes from various sources. I have enjoyed helping small businesses, from companies in aviation to HR professionals and more creative projects involving image and video generation.

What I love most about my accumulated knowledge and work with AI is when a new client, friend, or family member reaches out to me because they saw something on social media or the local news about AI taking over the world and annihilating all humans. While I obviously cannot guarantee any specific outcome for the human race, I enjoy telling people what I know about the foundations of today's large language models. I explain what consequences we might see first, for example, resource consumption.

I impress upon everyone I talk to how important it is that we do not just rely on big companies to tell us what to do with AI and how to think about AI. I want everyone to have a basic understanding of how AI can help them achieve and accelerate the things they are already so good at. If we all used AI to become even greater experts in an area where we are already experts, then we can all add our expertise and collective wisdom to the future of AI.

Addressing Reluctance to Embrace AI

I have now lived in Southwest Florida for two years, first in Naples and then moving to Fort Myers at the beginning of September. One thing I have noticed, talking to people at networking events, on new client discovery calls, and in casual conversations with friends and family, is that most people (including small business owners) are reluctant to use AI, talk about AI, or even consider that there might be a benefit to using it in their business or personal and professional roles.

My goal as The AI Handyman is to make a human connection with people either before or during the initial conversation about AI. I want to make people feel comfortable talking to a real person who understands AI. I explain the foundational concepts of how large language models like ChatGPT and Anthropic Claude were built. And then, if they do not want to think about AI anymore, that is fine. I will handle it for you.

My Global, Budget-Friendly Approach

For the past year, I have been teaching Generative AI cohorts online to a global community, with students from India, Germany, Brazil, Ireland, England, the US, and beyond. This is why I wanted to focus on building a global perspective of how AI is developing and to see how other people are using it. I also wanted to find out where we are missing data.

The first time I realized that some members of my global community did not have access to the same AI models that I did in all cases, I understood a key challenge. There are so many open source models that people can tap into, but that is nowhere near as easy as opening ChatGPT, selecting the most advanced model available per your subscription tier, and hammering out a new app or program in four hours.

I often focus on budget friendly AI solutions, from my own services to incorporating AI models for chatbots that get the job done without costing an arm and a leg.

I want people globally and locally to know that I understand we are all working with certain limitations. This might be because data used to train a large language model does not represent your country, or if you think AI is terrifying and you do not want to talk about it. I cannot fix how OpenAI trains their next model, but understanding what limitations exist helps me to course correct how I talk about AI, and how I continue to figure out how I can be a voice for good in the AI landscape.

Connecting Locally in Southwest Florida

With all of this in mind, I am creating a Southwest Florida (SWFL) section of The AI Handyman LLC.org page. This is so I can focus locally on connecting with humans in the physical world. I have been attending networking events and I hope to continue to grow my physical community in Fort Myers, Florida, and the surrounding area. I want people to see that there is a real face and a real person behind what I am doing. Not only am I real, but I care.

I care about the fate of the human race, not just myself and the people who look like me, talk like me, or have the same resources as me. I worked in healthcare for 18 years because I found peace at the end of each day feeling like I helped my community. Perhaps I made even a centimeter's difference in closing the gap for healthcare access. Similarly, now with tech and AI, I get the best feeling of accomplishment and success when I feel like I have learned something myself or helped someone else in a way that even slightly closes a similar gap in tech accessibility.

My Love for SWFL and My Mission

I absolutely love Southwest Florida, the sun, the birds, the reptiles, the Everglades, the beaches, the ocean, the people, the charm, and the resilience. This region bounces back after each hurricane that rocks a different community to its core each year. I love meeting new people in SWFL and I'm here to help.

Since I am physically here, looking for friendship, a community to belong to, and yes, of course, small businesses that I can help with my services, I wanted to create a space dedicated to my immediate community. This is while I continue my grand mission to be a force for good in the world during my relatively short human existence on this big, beautiful sphere we call Earth.
